CO₂-neutral malt production at Kling

In order to save around 3,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually, Kling Malz in Schriesheim is relying on a modern biomass plant from AGRO Forst & Energietechnik. The new combustion plant supplies the production facility with climate-friendly heat from regional biomass – a significant contribution to sustainable food processing.

The centrepiece of the new plant is a large wood chip bunker with a capacity of around four days. The fuel is fed automatically via a trough chain conveyor and hydraulic feed. The Turbo Challenger® combustion system ensures highly efficient and low-emission combustion. A two-stage flue gas cleaning system – consisting of a multicyclone and a downstream electrostatic precipitator – meets the most stringent emission requirements. In addition, a LUVO air preheater and the AGRO Efficiency Booster increase the overall efficiency of the plant. A generously dimensioned buffer storage tank ensures a consistent heat supply during load operation.

With the new biomass combustion plant, Kling Malz is converting its entire process heat supply to renewable fuels – reliably, economically and in an environmentally friendly manner. This is another step towards greater climate protection in the food industry.

Further information and pictures of the project can be found in the article by Kling Malz on biomass combustion in Schriesheim.
