Millstatt: Air to breathe, fire to warm

May you always have air to breathe, fire to warm, water to drink and earth to live. The Millstatt region took this wisdom to heart early on. As early as the 1970s, a sewage treatment plant was installed to bring Lake Millstatt back up to drinking water quality. Following this pioneering spirit, a particularly efficient solution for the CO2-neutral generation of heat from biomass was sought and found at AGRO. The goal was to implement a “high-efficiency district heating system”.

The approval process took almost a decade, but all the efforts were worth it: now the heating plant towers over Lake Millstätter See as a model for particularly efficient and regenerative energy production.

The heart of the heating plant, the 2 AGRO biomass boiler plants with an output of 1500 + 390 kW, were additionally equipped with the patented AGRO Efficiency Booster and the AGRO flue gas condensation with de-swathing technology to increase efficiency. This unbeatable combination lowers the O2 content during plant operation to an incomparable value between 4.5 – 5 % and thus considerably reduces fuel costs. It also enables continuous plant operation at a wide range of fuel water contents throughout the entire control process. Special attention should be paid to the predictive control, which results in a significantly lower susceptibility to wear of the grate and refractory lining. Highest efficiency, highest efficiencies, longest service life with lowest fuel and personnel consumption.

Did you know: The patented AGRO Efficiency Booster can also be retrofitted in any existing system and in systems from other manufacturers. We will be happy to inform you.
